Sylvia Lunsford was a staunch supporter of academic excellence and instilled this value in both her daughters: Anne Roberts and Alycia Lunsford Washington. Thanks to her unwavering dedication and support, both daughters became 1st generation college graduates.
Throughout her life, Sylvia was known for her unwavering commitment to her family and friends. She was a woman of her word, always keeping her commitments and never faltering in her love and devotion to those she cared for.
This award is for graduating seniors with a good academic history over the duration of all of their high school years.
Newport News Public Schools Students who graduated from Warwick High School with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have family members who attended Huntington High School are encouraged to apply.
